Red Front logo

In 2008, I got to participate in an academic marketing proposal for Red Front, a family-owned grocery store in Harrisonburg, Virginia. My role was branding and identity design— I started by asking what is a red front? After considering some of the usual suspects, it came to me that an enduring symbol of parental nurturing might be appropriate.

Red Front has a lot invested in their existing logo, so it’s not surprising that they didn’t adopt my design. I still think it’s a pretty sharp graphic, and you can click through various iterations below.

The robin in black and white, a basic logo for everyday needs. A white robin on black background. A robin in the old brick red on a light background. A robin in the old brick red on a dark background. The robin with a touch of gloss. The robin with a touch of gloss, on a dark background.
