Learning

I am a capable facilitator with wide-ranging practical experience providing instruction, technical support, and customer service. My experience as a Human Resources Administrator and training specialist at Whole Foods Market gave me a strong foundation in group dynamics and facilitation which motivated me to enroll in a teacher certification program in 2003. In tandem with my studies, I took part in a teaching internship, substitute teaching, and worked in an after-school program.

I also served as a tutor to college students of all ages, and became certified as a facilitator in the American Friends Service Committee’s Help Increase the Peace Project (HIPP), a peacebuilding program focused on building community and developing creative alternatives to violence.

Since then, I have led workshops in primary schools, colleges, churches, summer camps, and a maximum security prison. My studies at Eastern Mennonite University included focused training in mediation and facilitation which I’ve found instrumental in my work as a designer: The most important part of both disciplines is surfacing needs and interests of various stakeholders and developing effective communication strategies for mutual fulfillment.

I am adept at clarifying complex ideas for individuals and groups through written communication, visual storytelling, and interactive presentations, and I thrive in a team environment of skilled creative professionals.
